Canley Heights RSL Gaming Manager Hits 30-Year Service
In 1994 Andrew Mazurkiewicz began working at Canley Heights RSL as a bar and gaming attendant – he never imagined that now, in 2024, he would be celebrating 30 years of service.
Over his career, the current Gaming Manager has watched the Club and its membership grow in front of his eyes through renovations and expansions of the venue.
"The membership has grown from 5000 to 16,000 and there's been lots of changes,” Andrew told ClubLIFE.
“A lot of the original members – their kids have become members of the Club.”
As the Gaming Manager, Andrew has borne witness to many of the compliance changes and has gone along for the journey as the industry continues to strengthen its harm minimisation strategies.
“There's been lots of changes to compliance and everything else, obviously gaming is the engine room of any venue so there is always a lot happening with compliance,” he said.
To celebrate the milestone, the team at Canley Heights RSL threw Andrew a celebration lunch – which reiterated why he loves his team so much.
“The managers and directors attended; it was a bit of a surprise to me actually,” Andrew said, adding that the CEO and President gave speeches, before giving him some gifts and sitting down for a nice team lunch.
“My colleagues and the bosses that I've had to work with have been great,” he said.
As for his role in the Club, Andrew says he couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.
“The career progression is actually quite good as well as the training and everything you get along the line,” Andrew said, adding that he would “definitely” recommend working at the Club.
“It's been a great place to work for 30 years."
