Central Coast Leagues Club Unveils Stage One of ‘Dynamic’ Master Plan
Several club industry VIPs were in attendance, including NSW Minister for Gaming & Racing David Harris, ClubsNSW Chairman Dr George Peponis OAM and ClubsNSW CEO Rebecca Riant.
The renovations of the space were so fresh that tradesmen were still dismantling some of the fencing at the front entrance to the Club as guests eagerly waited to enter the luxurious new bar and dining area.
Boasting a coastal colour scheme with soft blues, turquoise and aqua to reflect the beaches in the local area and natural brown tones to complement the sandstone of the coastline, the space spans four main areas of the Club – Wildwood Bistro, Seed and Vine (café by day and wine bar by night), the Arena Bar and an outdoor smoking lounge.
“Our main goal was to get the front entry to be an interactive area, and I think we’ve achieved that,” Central Coast Leagues Club CEO Ed Camilleri told the crowd on the evening.
The American-style sports lounge is not only home to the Central Coast’s biggest screen — at a whopping nine metres wide — but also the largest beer tap selection outside of Sydney, with 80 beers on offer.
“Central Coast Leagues Club is the definition of a community club that has steadily evolved to cater to the changing needs of its members and patrons.” — Dr George Peponis OAM
The renovation is the first stage in a $20 million master plan to revitalise the heart of Gosford, with Minister David Harris MP — who is also Minister for the Central Coast — expressing his excitement for the future of the area.
“Gosford is finally taking off, there's about 16 cranes in the sky at the moment across Gosford, with some amazing development happening that will actually change this to make it not just the capital of the Central Coast, but one of the places to be anywhere in NSW. We're very passionate about that,” Minister Harris said during his speech at the event.
The Club, which employs over 140 people and has more than 32,000 members, is set for a complete overhaul over the next seven years with the Club’s Chairman presenting an artist's impressions of what the Club will look like in the near future, showcasing a multi-story luxury apartment building and a hotel.
“As the peak body for the state’s club industry, ClubsNSW actively encourages members to continually diversify their offerings — and Central Coast Leagues Club has always been a leading example of a club doing just that,” Dr George Peponis OAM said on the evening.
“Central Coast Leagues Club is the definition of a community club that has steadily evolved to cater to the changing needs of its members and patrons. I understand that the future stages of the Club’s redevelopment will include commercial spaces, apartments and a hotel, meaning this venue truly will become the dynamic hub of the Central Coast.”
The new area opened to the public on Saturday, 28 October.
