How Northern Beaches Clubs Are Helping to Keep Swimmers Safe
From iconic beaches to close‑knit communities, the Northern Beaches is defined by its strong connection to the coast. Keeping these communities safe takes teamwork, dedication and strong local partnerships.
Through the ClubGrants program, registered clubs are proudly supporting surf lifesaving clubs across the region — including Dee Why, South Curl Curl, Queenscliff, Collaroy, Narrabeen, Warriewood and North Steyne — helping ensure volunteers have the resources they need to protect some of the state’s busiest and most iconic beaches.
ClubGrants funding is supporting a wide range of initiatives that strengthen surf lifesaving across the Northern Beaches, from frontline safety and youth development to inclusion and volunteer wellbeing.
At North Steyne Surf Life Saving Club, funding is enabling the delivery of inclusive and adaptive Nippers and youth programs for children and young people with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. These programs provide a safe, structured and supportive environment where participants can build confidence, learn about beach safety, surf awareness and basic first aid, and where possible transition into modified mainstream programs with the appropriate training and support.
At Queenscliff Surf Life Saving Club, funding has supported the purchase of new rescue boards, including foam training boards for Nippers and fibreglass boards for youth participants. With increasing participation across Surf Life Saving programs, this essential equipment helps young members develop vital water safety skills as they progress through Nippers, youth and patrol pathways.
Funding is also supporting long-term volunteer wellbeing across Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches, which is made up of more than 19,000 volunteers patrolling 21 beaches from Manly to Palm Beach. Building on a peer support program established more than 30 years ago, funding will help train a long-term volunteer to become an accredited mental health first aid trainer — strengthening the ability of lifesavers to support one another following exposure to critical incidents.
The latest iteration of our ClubGrants advertising campaign aims to highlight the support of Northern Beaches clubs to local surf lifesaving clubs.
The campaign will be delivered across a mix of geo‑targeted marketing channels throughout Sydney’s Northern Beaches, including:
- Sponsored audio advertising, featuring 30‑second recorded ads across platforms such as Spotify, podcasts, iHeartRadio and radio streaming services.
- Digital out‑of‑home programmatic advertising across Northern Beaches shopping centres and key public transport stops.
- Print advertising in the local Peninsula Living magazine.
- A combination of organic and paid social media activity.
Should you wish to promote this campaign on your clubs’ own marketing channels, you can download the digital assets here.
The clubs which have contributed $116,776 in funding to surf lifesaving clubs on the Northern Beaches through ClubGrants funding in the past year include:
- Dee Why RSL
- Pittwater RSL
- Balgowlah RSL
- The Beach Club Collaroy
ClubGrants funding is helping local organisations deliver meaningful, life‑changing support across the region.
As the NSW Government reviews the ClubGrants scheme, it presents an opportunity to highlight the incredible support that NSW clubs provide to the community, creating lasting positive impacts.

ClubGrants is one of Australia’s largest and most established grant programs and is a partnership between ClubsNSW and the NSW Government. It commenced in 1998 to formalise the longstanding practice of clubs responding and contributing to local community needs.
Over $126 million in financial support for community services, projects and programs was provided in the year to 31 August 2025 under the ClubGrants scheme. That figure exceeded the mandatory contribution required under the Guidelines by over $47 million.
