Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) has released updated guidance on Liquor Plan of Management (LPoM). A LPoM is a written guide that:
- Explains how the club will serve alcohol responsibly
- Guides the club and employees to follow liquor laws and licence conditions
- Shows how the club venue will reduce harm and keep patrons safe.
While it is not a mandatory requirement to have a LPoM, some venues do have it as a condition on their liquor licence. However, having a LPoM can support a club if they are looking to vary their liquor licence and/or any development application for redevelopment or change of use as required by local councils.
There are mandatory topics that need to be included in a LPoM with specific information required underneath each topic. These topics are:
- Business Model
- Responsible Service of Alcohol
- Staff
- Amenity; and
- Review.
An important matter to note is that all employees involved in selling or serving alcohol must be trained and understand the LPoM, and it is also recommended to keep records of training sessions.
Further information on the LPoM, including frequently asked questions, can be found here.
