Liverpool Catholic Club Mourns Passing of Former President
Liverpool Catholic Club and the wider community are mourning the passing of former President Phil Coleman OAM, who died on 3 April, 2025.
Mr Coleman was a Foundation Member, Life Member and Board Director from 1982 to 2024, serving as Vice President from 1994 to 1996 and President from 1996 to 2003.
He was an integral part of the Liverpool Community, having moved to the area in 1961, and was awarded an OAM in January 2023 for his community work, which included with St Vincent de Paul, the Catholic Church and the Liverpool Catholic Club. He was also awarded the Companion of the Order of Liverpool in 2017.
“Phil’s remarkable service and dedication to the Liverpool Catholic Club and the community for over four decades are a testament to his character and contributions,” says Greg Richardson, Liverpool Catholic Club President.
“It’s clear that his leadership and involvement, especially in areas including the intra clubs, sporting groups and the Thurgoona Golf Club, made a lasting impact.
“His community work and recognition, such as the OAM and Companion of the Order of Liverpool, show the depth of his commitment and passion for the people around him.
“We are appreciative for Phil’s guidance, friendship and outstanding contribution to the Club over the 42 years he served on the Board.
“We extend our condolences to Phil’s family and friends.”
A Requiem Mass celebrating his life was held at St Francis Xavier Church at Lurnea on Thursday, 10 April.
