Mounties Group Donates 500 School Bags as Students Return to Class
Parents nation-wide are grappling with the financial strain of meeting their children's educational needs, particularly in light of the new school term commencing. With escalating costs, there is a growing surge in demand for back-to-school support, particularly from charities and organisations striving to bridge the gap.
In response to this critical need, the latest initiative by Mounties Group has emerged as a beacon of hope. A total of 500 high-quality backpacks containing essential school supplies have been distributed to students in the lead-up to classes commencing.
This undertaking ensures that every child, regardless of their family's financial circumstances, has the tools required for a successful school year. The overarching goal of this project is to support local families, eliminating barriers to education and fostering a community-driven commitment to academic success.
Mounties Group Executive Manager of Community, Arely Carrion, said Mounties conducts research each year to understand what the most important issues are in their community.
“This year it became evident that people were having challenges with the increased cost of living. Electricity prices, rent, mortgages, fuel, takeaway, groceries and entertainment were all going up and people were left to make tough decisions on what had to go in their lives to stay afloat,” Arely said.
“Mounties wanted to make sure that we could do something to reduce the impact on families, in particular the future of our local children and their chance to make the most of their school education.”
One family that received a school bag said it was a great initiative to make sure that kids have what they need.
“Prices for everything have gone up which has made it tough for everyone. Every little saving helps to make life that little bit better,” they said.
“My son is excited to have a new bag and everything they need to start back at school. Mounties is well known in our area as well, so they liked having something with their logo on it.”
Mounties distributed the backpacks to key organisations, including the Zen Tea Lounge Foundation, Bonnie Support Services, Women & Children First, We Care Connect and Liverpool Women's Health Centre, who gave out the bags to primary and high school children across Western Sydney, the Northern Beaches and on the Central Coast.
