Narrabri RSL Plays Host in Super Rugby Festival
Narrabri RSL will play a central role in the 2025 Santos Festival of Rugby, hosting the NSW Waratahs, Queensland Reds, and their women’s and sevens squads as they prepare for matches in the region this month.
The Club has been confirmed as the official base of operations for the teams, providing everything from food preparation and meetings to after-event functions.
Meals will be specially designed by team dieticians, with serving sizes equal to around one and a half times a normal person’s meal— the much-needed fuel to power elite athletes.
“This is a chance for Narrabri to shine and we’re proud that our Club is right at the heart of it,” says Narrabri RSL Operations Manager, Geoffrey Artis.
Accommodation for the players and fans has been booked out months in advance, with around half a dozen local motels secured to house visiting teams and officials.
Several thousand people are expected to descend on Narrabri during the festival, delivering a major economic boost for local businesses.
“This is something that benefits everyone—the Club, the town, and the whole community,” says Geoffrey.
Adding to the excitement, several local players could be taking to the field for the Waratahs. Narrabri-raised talents Jonty and Joey Fowler are set to make their mark, while Sidney Harvey will also represent NSW, alongside his sister Martha Harvey, who is named in the women’s team.
“Having local kids play on home soil makes it even more special,” says Geoffrey. “Their families and the whole town are incredibly proud.”
The festival isn’t just about the professional matches. The program includes street activations in the Narrabri CBD, ensuring the whole town gets swept up in the atmosphere.
A special Wallabies Legends vs Local Legends match is also planned, promising plenty of colour and nostalgia for rugby fans.
With the main playing field located just five kilometres from Narrabri RSL, the Club is perfectly positioned to support the teams and the influx of visitors.
