North Ryde RSL Community Club has unveiled development plans that promise to reshape the venue’s future while honouring its proud 67-year history.
The project will enhance accessibility, modernise key spaces and deliver long-term community benefits as the Club continues to grow alongside its members.
Since its establishment in 1958, North Ryde RSL Community Club has served as a central meeting place for the community, offering essential services and a sense of belonging across generations. The newly announced redevelopment signals the next step in that journey — a vision that combines contemporary design with deep respect for local heritage.
Guided by three core goals, the project aims to bring all main services onto a single level for improved accessibility, introduce upgraded amenities across dining, social and family spaces, and streamline operational layouts to create a seamless experience for members and guests.
CEO Joe Kelly says the redevelopment reflects the Club’s commitment to long-term community impact.
“This redevelopment is about more than just upgrading our facilities – it’s about building a stronger, more connected North Ryde RSL Community Club for generations to come,” Joe says.
“By investing in modern spaces and improving how our Club operates, we are ensuring that our financial strength translates into real benefits for our members and the local community. It’s a project that honours our proud history while creating a bright, sustainable future.”
The architectural design draws inspiration from the Field of Mars — land originally granted to soldiers in 1792 — and the Lane Cove River, reflecting themes of heritage, resilience and community connection. BSPN Architecture, an Australian firm with more than 40 years of experience, has been engaged to lead the design work and deliver spaces that blend tradition with modernity.
The Development Application process will begin shortly following a pre-lodgement meeting with Council. Importantly, the redevelopment will roll out in carefully planned stages, ensuring minimal disruption.
All Club services will remain available throughout the construction period, with regular updates to be provided to members as the project progresses.
