NSW Clubs Are Getting Their Steins and Schnitzels Ready for Oktoberfest
There are few annual festivities quite as fun as Oktoberfest. The German festival is traditionally celebrated right across the world from mid-September to the first Sunday in October — including right here in NSW — and clubs are planning to serve up more steins and pork knuckle than ever before.
Here is how your local club is joining in on das Vergnügen (fun).
Berowra RSL Club
On Saturday, 5 October the Club’s festivities will kick off in the Biergarten from 2pm until 5pm, with live music performed by Neville Kaye. Patrons will be able to savour the authentic flavours of Germany, with a special menu created just for the occasion and the Club firing up a bratwurst BBQ. More information can be found here.
Club Kirrawee
On Saturday, 19 October Club Kirrawee will host a night centred around good food, beer and traditional German music. One of Germany’s best beers, Weihenstephan Original, will be on tap served in steins, with the first stein included in the ticket price. There will also be prizes for the best-dressed male and female. More information can be found here.
Concordia Club
The Marrickville Club is dedicated to German culture year-round, so this is their time to shine. Just one day isn’t enough, Oktoberfest will be celebrated every Sunday in October with special lunch and dinner sittings featuring amazing German feasts — and available by booking only. More information can be found here.
Condobolin Sports Club
Saturday, 26 October will see the ‘Condo Oktoberfest’ held in the Club’s outdoor, flag-lined “beer hall” on the grass. There will be an authentic German Polka Band, food stands and an endless supply of beer. Once the sun goes down, rock cover band “Ballz ‘n’ All” will be playing classic hits until close.Tickets will include a custom ‘Condo Beer Fest’ glass stein with one free refill. More information can be found here.
Oatley RSL
On Saturday, 5 October Oatley RSL will have live entertainment by the “Braumeisters” while the Oat Mill restaurant will feature a German menu which includes pork knuckle, schnitzels, bratwurst and strudel. Four German beers on tap and two in bottles will also be available. Bookings are recommended. More information can be found here.
Pittwater RSL
A ticketed deck party will kick off at Pittwater RSL on Sunday, 22 September from midday (over 18s only). A traditional Oompah band will entertain patrons as they sit, German beer hall-style, out on the Club’s deck sharing a platter of great German-themed food with friends — think crackling pork belly, cheese kransky, pork sliders, chicken schnitzel, bratwurst with sauerkraut, red cabbage, creamy potato salad, apple compote, pretzels and candied almonds. More information can be found here.
Polish Club
The Polish Club will kick off their Oktoberfest festivities with a ticketed Beer Festival at 7pm on Friday, 27 September. It will be a night filled with rich international craft beers, delicious European food and a welcoming atmosphere. The exclusive beer tasting menu will feature nine craft beers imported from Poland and the beers will be accompanied by delicious hors d’oeuvres from the Club’s Sto Lat Kitchen to heighten every sip. More information can be found here.
