Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club Brings Cheer to Ronald McDonald House Families
Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club recently brought some much-needed smiles in the way of delicious meals to families at the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat in Forster.
Meals from the Heart, a Ronald McDonald House initiative, allows groups to help families facing the toughest of situations.
The program gives people a direct hands-on opportunity to support the families during their time of need, with kitchen and cooking facilities provided.
Groups who undertake the program are invited to sit down in the dining room and share the meal with the families staying in the house, as well as the Meals from the Heart volunteer supervisors.
Under the guidance of chef Ivor Bond, along with fellow Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club team members Jaime-Shah Semple, Jordy Semple and Duty Manager Kelly Wilson, the Club's team collaborated with volunteers from The Man Walk to create a memorable day.
Ronald McDonald Family Retreat offers families with seriously ill children a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved break in a nurturing and calming setting.
Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club’s Community Engagement Officer Terry Green is extremely proud of the Club coming together for a great cause.
“It’s moments like these that truly show the power of community,” Terry said.
“We’re incredibly proud to be a part of something so meaningful and to see our team and local partners come together to make a real difference.”
The project received a significant boost thanks to the kindness of Forster-based businesses No Bull Meats and Lavish Nail Artistry. Their contributions not only enhanced the initiative but also instilled a sense of local pride.
Ronald McDonald House Charities is dedicated to supporting families with seriously ill or injured children by providing them with a home away from home close to hospitals and medical care.
Programs like the Ronald McDonald Family Retreats offer families opportunities to relax and reconnect during challenging times, creating lasting memories and easing the burden of illness.
The Forster retreat overlooks the calm waters of Wallis Lake, with four deluxe two-bedroom cabins built perfectly for families to relax, reconnect, recharge and spend precious time together.
