Twin Towns Funds New $296,000 Truck to Support Local Families
Twin Towns has delivered an extraordinary Christmas gift to the community—handing over the keys to a brand-new $296,000 refrigerated delivery truck for Vibe Care Pantry.
The vital community organisation, which provides low-cost and free groceries to families, schools, shelters and people experiencing homelessness, will now be able to significantly expand its reach during one of the busiest times of the year.
The donation was made possible through Twinnies Gives, Twin Towns’ community support platform that unites contributions from ClubGRANTS, the Twin Towns Services Community Foundation and direct member donations. After Vibe Care Pantry approached the Club seeking assistance, the Board unanimously agreed to step in on behalf of its more than 60,000 members.
A contribution of $150,000 was provided through ClubGRANTS, while the Twin Towns Services Community Foundation supplied the additional $146,000 needed to purchase the 25-tonne Fuso Shogun truck. Community Foundation Chair Ken Culpitt says the Directors recognised the increasing pressure on families and the essential role the pantry plays in ensuring people do not go hungry.
Joint Lead Pastor of Vibe Church, David Nahi, says the Club’s long-standing support has been “an absolute blessing”, with the new vehicle set to significantly expand the pantry’s capacity.
“This new truck is a big deal for us! It will help expand and improve food distribution, increasing deliveries to families, schools and shelters,” he says.
He adds that Christmas is their busiest period, saying, “around Christmas time, we experience a huge increase in the number of people seeking assistance.”
