Green Light for Club Corowa’s Landmark Accommodation Project
Club Corowa has received development approval for a highly anticipated accommodation project designed to meet growing demand from families, corporate travellers, sporting groups, wedding guests and holidaymakers.
Located just one block from the Club, the Guy Street development is set to deliver premium short-stay accommodation comprising a mix of contemporary studio rooms and spacious one- and two-bedroom apartments.
All going to plan, the Riverina-based Club intends to welcome its first guests to the new site in 2028. Interior design planning is underway with Verity Rhodes Interiors; once finalised, the building tender process will begin.
Club Corowa President Chris Thomas said the approval represents years of planning and a community focus, with the new accommodation representing far more than simply additional rooms.
"This project has always been about much more than building accommodation,” Mr Thomas said.
“It is about investing in Corowa's future by creating opportunities for local businesses, increasing tourism, supporting employment and ensuring Club Corowa continues to grow and diversify for generations to come."
With increased accommodation, Corowa will be well placed to host larger conferences, meetings, sporting events and functions — bringing valuable economic benefits to local businesses and the wider community.
As with previous projects, including Mini Golf on the Murray, Club Corowa has stated its intent to engage local trades and businesses wherever possible during construction “to support the regional economy from the ground up”.
Every guest who stays in the new accommodation will contribute to the success of local cafés, restaurants, wineries, retailers, sporting clubs and tourism operators, helping strengthen Corowa's visitor economy for years to come.
"Our Board has once again chosen to invest in the future of our local community rather than pursue higher financial returns elsewhere,” Mr Thomas added.
“Their vision will leave a lasting legacy for future generations and create opportunities that benefit not only Club Corowa but the entire region."
