A Big Week for the State’s Registered Clubs
- Executive Column
It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through Autumn and it is school holiday time once again.
Given the increasing cost-of-living pressures, research suggests many families will be holidaying locally this month, with NSW the most popular state for Australians to visit. So, it is pleasing to see how many of our member clubs are offering free, or low-cost, activities and entertainment for kids these school holidays — from karaoke and cooking lessons to science classes and family friendly movie screenings. I know our Media team is working on getting some mainstream media coverage of those offerings in the coming days, so keep your eye out.
I was also thrilled to read about Wests Group Macarthur making their biggest ever contribution to grassroots rugby league this week, with a $350,000 injection of funds to support 23 clubs, almost 500 teams and 8500 players. This is a timely announcement, given this weekend is the NSWRL Licensed Clubs Round, which recognises the incredible contribution licensed clubs across NSW make to the game of rugby league — to the tune of around $50 million every year.
Speaking of rugby league, if you watched last night’s NRL game (Sydney Roosters vs Melbourne Storm) you might have seen the Your local club — where celebration belongs ad creative pop up on the digital screens at Allianz Stadium. If you missed it, be sure to look out for it during the next four Roosters home games.
From tomorrow, you will also start to see a 15-second Your local club — where respect belongs ad running on free-to-air TV channels, Broadcast Video on Demand (BVOD), Subscription Video on Demand, online digital and social media channels in the lead-up to ANZAC Day.
On ANZAC Day, if your club is hosting two-up, please reacquaint yourselves with the operating conditions here.
Don’t forget — today, 19 April is the very last day that you can enter the 2024 Your Local Club Perfect Plate Awards. If you haven’t entered already, I encourage you to do so here.
