An increasing number of venues are witnessing a trend among patrons seeking out Australian-made products. Whether it's locally sourced coffee, gourmet teas, alcoholic beverages, or a dry-aged steak, there’s a notable preference for homegrown offerings.
The Commonwealth Government is conducting an inquiry into Food and Beverage Manufacturing in Australia. The House Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Resources will explore avenues for enhancing innovation and value-adding in the sector.
Questions such as “How can we support Australian-made products?” or “Is there a shift in consumer preferences?” will undoubtedly be considered.
With a growing number of clubs embracing manufacturing roles and making notable contributions to this arena, ClubsNSW, through Clubs Australia, lodged a submission.
What did our submission highlight?
Our submission highlighted clubs' efforts to diversify their offerings by establishing small distilleries and micro-breweries. In doing so, clubs have taken proactive steps to reduce emissions in their operations. These experiences have enriched consumer choice options and increased tourism in regional areas.
The Basement Brewhouse, a popular hangout for sports fans at Bankstown Sports, serves craft beers, ciders, wines, and cocktails. Meanwhile, Wests Cardiff boasts a small-batch microbrewery that produces a variety of beers under the Cardiff Brewery Label, available on tap at the bar.
ClubsNSW, through Clubs Australia, believes that a contemporary and flexible legislative and regulatory framework is essential for fostering innovation and value addition in Australian manufacturing.
