For the last few years, there has been an increasing demand for training and compliance services offered by ClubsNSW. This has only accelerated with the launch of the Club Gaming Code of Practice (the Code). As such, the ClubSAFE team has also grown to continue to meet this demand and ensure members can access the compliance and harm minimisation services they want and need.
It’s been rewarding to see such a major increase in members utilising our suite of harm-minimisation and compliance training courses, services, platforms, and support.
This year alone ClubSAFE has:
- delivered and scheduled training for nearly 2000 staff and directors all over the state
- enrolled over 700 staff and directors in our online training courses.
Most importantly, we have trained over 650 staff and managers in the Advanced RCG course, helping them obtain the new accreditation before it becomes legislated.
We have been fortunate enough to deliver our AML/CTF Board Oversight course to all the recent Club Education Institute (CEI) meetings. Doing so has allowed CEI members to easily comply with the requirement to complete this course in the Code. Over the next round of CEI meetings, we will be delivering the Responsible Gambling Board Oversight course, again allowing members to easily comply with this training requirement. For directors who missed the first round of training we are holding a virtual AML/CTF Board Oversight session in November. Details will follow via circular. If you would like to find out how to become a CEI member, contact ClubASSIST via email at [email protected] or call 1300 730 001.
This year, the ClubSAFE Compliance Team is scheduled to deliver 450 individual compliance audits to members. These audits assist members to identify and rectify non-compliance to provide the safest possible venues for patrons. Each audit tests compliance against over 70 individual obligations under various pieces of legislation and includes many best practice recommendations.
Every year, ClubSAFE assists hundreds of members to ensure AML/CTF compliance by:
- facilitating the development of new AML/CTF programs
- supporting the completion of robust independent reviews
- consulting on how to implement their AML/CTF programs
- delivering a customer due diligence platform to complete background checks proactively on players, or in response to their conduct on site.
Members routinely contact ClubASSIST and ClubSAFE to determine how best to navigate their obligations, handle various operational matters, and ensure the best possible outcomes concerning AML/CTF.
This year, ClubsNSW also worked with CherryHub to provide the CherryCheck Lite Gaming Incident Register. Having a responsible gambling register is an obligation under the Code for one important reason — it maintains adequate oversight of gaming and provides a robust process for the early identification of harm that your patrons may be experiencing. This is crucial to allow member clubs to quickly respond and provide the right support and resources. Clubs wishing to take up the free CherryCheck Lite offer can complete Cherry Hub’s online expression of interest form.
As the regulatory landscape continues to evolve, ClubsNSW remains at the forefront of providing members with the necessary services to assist them to not only comply with, but also exceed their obligations.
