It is almost time for our HR managers to delve into deep thoughts and discussions over everything workplace relations and human resources (WR&HR).
Clubs Australia will be hosting its annual WR&HR Conference on 14 and 15 August 2023 at the ICC Sydney. Not only are there a range of insightful and diverse speakers this year, but with the prominent changes to legislation that affects all our clubs directly, it’s not one to be missed.
Over the last few weeks, we have seen some significant changes to legislation that has affected how clubs roster employees on public holidays, employee parental leave entitlements and the positive duty for clubs to prevent workplace sex discrimination and harassment.
What will you get out of attending the Conference?
Some of the recent legislative changes have significant implications for clubs if they are not implemented correctly. In particular, clubs need to have a strong understanding of the new “positive duty” imposed on them to prevent workplace sex discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
This law places responsibility on the club to eliminate unlawful workplace sex discrimination and sexual harassment by members, patrons and guests. Navigating this duty can be tricky. To help clubs understand this duty, we have Fair Work Commissioner Jennifer Hunt, Thomson Geer Partner Jacquie Seeman, Barrister Dan Fuller and SWAAB Partner Michael Byrnes who will provide a comprehensive overview on the impact of these recent legislative changes.
What else can you expect?
Speaking at the Conference will also be the NSW Industrial Relations and Work, Health and Safety Minister, the Hon Sophie Cotsis MP, who will be talking about the current workers compensation framework and any foreseen changes that will impact our clubs.
Many clubs are directly impacted by workers compensation claims and having this unique insight into any potential changes will be extremely beneficial for attendees. There will also be a Q&A session where you can ask those tough questions and have an opportunity to engage with the Minister.
Lastly, we will also have a session focused on how to deal with workplace conflict, with an emphasis on mental health and how prevention through connection is key to helping your employees. We see this affecting many clubs day-to-day, and this session will be extremely beneficial for HR managers dealing with this complex issue.
Be sure to secure your spot at the WR&HR Conference ASAP, here. Remember, a 15 per cent discount applies to the total price when you register three or more attendees.
