ClubGRANTS Ad Campaign Makes a Splash on the Central Coast
As the NSW Government embarks on a review of the ClubGRANTS scheme, it's an opportune time to shine a spotlight on the remarkable support that NSW clubs offer the community, fostering enduring and positive impacts.
The third phase of the Your local club ClubGRANTS advertising campaign has begun, featuring the financial support that 11 clubs on the Central Coast have provided local surf life saving clubs and highlighting a united commitment to community welfare, and the creation of a safer environment for those who frequent Central Coast beaches.
Surf Life Saving NSW CEO Steven Pearce says the clubs’ donations are fundamental to what they do, given they are a volunteer-based organisation.
“Funding of over $150,000 from Central Coast clubs supports our work in developing skilled and well-resourced lifesavers to patrol the coastline and keep beachgoers safe,” Steven said.
“In the past year, our Central Coast Surf Life Saving Club members conducted 604 rescues and 42,600 preventative actions — made possible by the crucial support from Central Coast Clubs.”
The donations come in the wake of NSW already recording the deadliest summer for drownings in the state’s history. Below are the donations made by each club to surf life saving clubs on the Central Coast in the past year:
- Avoca Beach Bowling Club: $3,085
- Club Wyong: $10,000
- Davistown RSL Club: $4,000
- Diggers @ the Entrance: $763.6
- Doyalson Wyee RSL Club: $15,250
- Ettalong Diggers: $1,700
- Gosford RSL Club: $3,200
- Halekulani Bowling Club: $25,381.82
- Mingara Recreation Club: $73,965.91
- Wallarah Bay Recreation Club: $7,500
- Wyong Rugby League Club: $12,000.
Support from these Central Coast clubs helps surf life saving clubs to achieve their vision of zero preventable deaths on the NSW coastline.
Under the Your local club banner, ClubsNSW has produced three 15-second ads, one 30-second ad and one 60-second ad to be shared across social media. From today, a 30-second ad will also be aired on STAR 104.5 for six weeks and ads will appear on buses on the Central Coast until 10 March.
The first iteration of the Your local club ClubGRANTS advertising campaign shone a spotlight on the $600,000 that Wests Group Macarthur, Campbelltown Catholic Club and Ingleburn RSL have committed over three years to fund the purchase and installation of Automated External Defibrillators in the local area. The second iteration highlighted the efforts of six clubs in the Illawarra and South Coast region that have committed a collective $80,000 to Lifeline South Coast through the ClubGRANTS scheme.
This campaign series will continue to focus on how clubs, through the ClubGRANTS scheme, provide immeasurable support to numerous initiatives that improve the lives of those in their communities. Over the coming weeks and months through to mid-2024, more key areas will be highlighted in multiple regions across the state.
ClubGRANTS is one of Australia’s largest and most established grant programs and is a partnership between ClubsNSW and the NSW Government. It commenced in 1998 to formalise the longstanding practice of clubs responding and contributing to local community needs.
In the past 12 months, a record $121 million in financial support for community services, projects and programs was provided through the ClubGRANTS program — that figure exceeded the mandatory contribution required under the ClubGRANTS Guidelines by over $50 million.
The next stage of the Your local club ClubGRANTS advertising campaign will kick-start on Thursday, 22 February and will highlight the support that clubs provide the game of rugby league. This phase will include 45-second live read radio advertisements on 2GB, as well as targeted 60-second, 30-second and 15-second ads across social media.
