Dubbo to Sweat for a Powerful Cause
Dubbo RSL is calling on their local community to get moving for a meaningful cause, hosting a special fundraising fitness event in support of Western Women’s Legal Support.
Taking place on Saturday, 18 April, the Sweat for a Cause fundraiser will see the Club’s Aquatic and Health Club team deliver two headline group fitness sessions designed to raise both funds and awareness of women experiencing domestic and family violence.
The morning will kick off with the Club’s biggest-ever bootcamp class, held on the rooftop car park, before participants take to the water for a large-scale aqua class in the Club’s 25-metre indoor heated pool.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to Western Women’s Legal Support, a local organisation providing free legal advice and casework for women impacted by domestic and family violence across the region.
Demand for their service continues to grow, with its small team of lawyers and caseworkers operating well beyond capacity as they support women often facing urgent and complex circumstances.
Funds raised through the event will help the organisation to continue delivering timely legal assistance to women who need it most.
Participants are encouraged to wear purple on the day, with prizes on offer for the best-dressed, reinforcing the broader message of support for survivors of domestic and family violence.
The event aligns with the Club’s wider commitment to addressing domestic and family violence in the community, having also registered for Purple Friday — Clubs Say No to Domestic Violence.
Taking place on 8 May, the state-wide campaign is an opportunity for registered clubs to come together to highlight the role that the industry plays in the prevention of domestic violence by turning their clubs purple.
The colour purple is a symbol of strength, courage and dignity, and represents the club industry’s commitment to breaking the silence around domestic violence and stand in solidarity with those affected.
Dubbo RSL is one of approximately 200 clubs across the state who will participate.
