Keeping Kids Warm This Winter
As winter draws near, The Doylo is proud to announce the continuation of its community-driven initiative ‘Doylo Doonas’, which is now entering its third consecutive year.
Teaming up with We Care Connect, this program embodies The Doylo's unwavering commitment to providing essential winter support to vulnerable local residents.
Last winter, We Care Connect was asked to provide winter essentials for 1425 disadvantaged children on the Central Coast; including blankets, warm joggers, hoodies, Oodies, slipper socks and dressing gowns.
In part with support from The Doylo, We Care Connect was able to distribute over 18,000 pieces of warm clothing, 1700 blankets and doonas, and 92 pairs of mittens/gloves, ensuring that vulnerable children remained warm and protected during the cold months.
"The Doylo is immensely proud to partner with such a wonderful and purposeful organisation," says The Doylo CEO, Darren Thornton.
"No one, especially children, should go cold this winter. I ask all our members and our community to support this initiative. Every single item helps. With the cost of living demands and increasing housing shortages, those most vulnerable need our help now."
In addition to Doylo Doonas, The Doylo actively collaborates with We Care Connect on various community projects throughout the year, including volunteer days involving staff members and initiatives like the recent nappy drive. This holistic approach demonstrates the Club's deep-rooted commitment to community engagement and support.
As The Doylo embarks on its third year of Doylo Doonas, the Club extends an invitation to both members and the wider community to participate in this important initiative.
By purchasing new doonas (single or double) and dropping them off at The Doylo or Summerland Sporties before the end of May, individuals can make a significant difference by providing warmth and comfort to those in need during winter.
